Signed (app.great-life.org) is run by the operator of this website ("we," "us"), the same operator as great-life.org. This page explains what Signed collects, why, and what you can ask us to do with it. Questions: team@great-life.org.
Who uses Signed, and whose information it holds
Funeral homes use Signed to track death certificates. The funeral home decides what goes into a case. We hold that information to provide the service to the funeral home, and we don't use it for anything else.
What we collect
- Your account: your work email, your name, and your funeral home's name, state, phone, fax and address.
- Case details a funeral home enters: the decedent's name, date and state of death, disposition, the funeral home's own case number, the step the record is at, and the certified-copies order. We never ask for or store the cause of death.
- The certifying office: the doctor's or office's name, practice, office phone, office fax and office email, as entered by the funeral home.
- Family contacts: the name and email of each family member a funeral home adds, so they get status updates.
- Activity records: when each step changed, each fax or email we sent and whether it was delivered.
- Usage data on funeral-home screens: pages visited, device and browser, and masked session replays (clicks and scrolling, with all text and typing hidden). Family status pages carry no analytics or tracking at all.
How we use it
- To run the case: show the clock, fax and email the certifying office the funeral home named, and email the family members the funeral home added when the step changes.
- To show each funeral home how long each office it works with takes to sign (only that funeral home sees its own numbers).
- To keep the service secure and working, and to improve it.
We do not sell personal information. We do not send marketing to family members or doctors' offices, ever.
The family status link
Each case has a private link for the family. Anyone who has the link can see the decedent's first name and last initial, the current step, who holds the record, when the office was last contacted, and the expected date for copies. It shows no last name, no cause of death and no contact details for the doctor. It is hidden from search engines. Please share it only with family.
Who we share it with
Only service providers that run Signed on our behalf: hosting, our database, our transactional email provider, our fax provider, and analytics tools (funeral-home screens only). Each gets only what its job needs. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Case information stays while the funeral home's account is open, so the home can look back at past cases. When a funeral home asks us to delete a case or close its account, we delete the related information within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep a record.
Your choices
- Funeral homes can edit or remove family contacts and close cases at any time in the app.
- A family member who no longer wants updates can ask the funeral home, or write to us, and we will stop them.
- Anyone can ask us to see, correct or delete information we hold about them: team@great-life.org.
- We honor the Global Privacy Control signal: when your browser sends it, our analytics don't load.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Each funeral home can only see its own cases. We never ask for, store or use any login to a state death registration system.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we update this page and the date above.
